Review: Inner Change by Steve Shufton

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: Madame Curator”][vc_column_text]Steve Shufton is one of my favourite magic creators. A brilliant thinker and a creative artist, he has produced several magic bestsellers and this is one that I dearly love. Inner Change (so aptly titled!) is extremely clever, super easy to do, and with a little bit of imagination you can possibly adopt the principle towards other acts in your shows. Here’s the official demo:

Essentially Inner Change is a signed coin in nested envelopes effect, and when done well you can bet that the reactions from your adoring crowd will be nothing short of stellar. Now, it doesn’t need to be “just” a coin trick; if you are a mentalist there are several exciting applications you can use for this as well.

Inner Change comes with everything you need to start performing. I dare say most coin workers and professional sleight of hand artists would own a special something, which basically eliminates the use of the provided gimmick. Angles are good, and I love how you can if you so wish, have your spectator participate in more ways than simply signing their coin (or yours) before it vanishes and finds itself in a completely impossible place.

The instructions provided in the supplied 12 page booklet are adequate to have you grasp an understanding of the essential workings (read it first before fiddling with the props please) along with a basic presentational suggestion. Several extra mini envelopes are also included in the Inner Change package, which is very sweet and generous touch, considering there will be some unavoidable wear and tear over time.

This is a classic example of a “golden oldie”, there is no need for any fancy trailers or snazzy marketing copy. The effect is SOLID and essentially sells itself, as you can see from the demo video above. Inner Change is something you can easily do anywhere, anytime, and it’s very well thought of. Remember, with great powers come great responsibility… so don’t you go off starting your own religion now 😉 Nicely done Steve!
