Review: Kinetic PK Ring by Jim Trainer

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: Madame Curator”][vc_column_text]For many contemporary magicians, PK rings are something they’d never leave home without. Any worker who uses one would be able to attest to its wickedly clever abilities… and for yours truly, what’s currently more diabolical than the original Wizard FX PK Ring – undoubtedly a huge game changer when it first came out- is this…

Kinetic PK Ring (Gold) Beveled size 12 by Jim Trainer

The Kinetic PK Ring is an improved re-design of the original Wizard FX PK Ring, by the very same creator. Now 25% stronger than its classic predecessor, you don’t have to worry about your precious ring shatter from a tragic drop no thanks to clumsy butter fingers.

I’m sure most of us have been there; heart in throat and eyes wide open as you watch helplessly when your PK Ring falls from a great height, before smashing into shiny grey pieces upon impact. During testing for this review, the Kinetic Ring (which already feels a lot more robust than the first generation Wizard FX PK Ring I had over a decade ago) survived its casual drop about 1.5m high and simply bounced right off before rolling on its merry way. No chips. No cracks. No scratches. No tears.

These hold up far better than the lightweight chintzy ones from China, which come at a fraction of the Kinetic Ring’s price, but break easily with impact and aren’t as reliable in PK strength when it comes to doing certain effects. Aesthetically speaking as well, the Kinetic Ring not only looks good, it passes as an innocent accessory.

A friend had previously purchased a similar looking ring from SuperMagnet Man for a little bit cheaper, as they also sell PK rings magnetised through its thickness like the Kinetic Ring. It may save you a bit, but know that when you make your original purchase through an official Murphy’s Magic retailer, your Kinetic Ring arrives in a nice solid box that also includes a secret link to an instructional video with basic PK effects and some clever ideas for you to play around with. So don’t be penny wise but pound foolish 😉

Available in 6 different styles and metal finishes, you can easily pick one that fits you. I believe all artists should embrace the evolution of their art, so it will go beyond a craft. The Kinetic Ring gets my nod of approval; With 25% more magnetism allowing you more impressive possibilities and re-built to be 50% more shatter resistant, I must say I’m 100% for it because… what’s not to love?
