Review: Rejoined by João Miranda Magic and Julio Montoro

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: Madame Curator” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left”][vc_column_text]João Miranda, formerly from Lynx Magic, produces good magic. I have made direct purchases from him before, and have always been happy with João’s clever products and satisfactory customer service. This review is about João’s newest magic offering, a unique torn and restored card effect that is aptly entitled REJOINED.

The effect’s creator Julio Montoro is a young, sexy Portuguese magician who is also a skilled card worker. Several variations for Rejoined, along with different ideas for presentation and handling, are shown in the 17+ minute video tutorial. The secret link is provided inside the box, which also generously includes 60 gimmicks (4 different faces because variety is the spice of life) which should last the professional close-up worker quite awhile!

Meanwhile, if you’re unfamiliar with the classic T&R routine and are wondering what’s the big deal about their unique twist on it… Check out the full performance video below:

The specially created Rejoined gimmicks are professionally made with pride and well-printed IMHO. It is a tad thinner than your usual playing cards but its that special quality which helps you rip up the signed selection effortlessly and makes a perfect souvenir when you give it away to your audience. Make them remember you!

Now, Rejoined is not printed on Bicycle stock but does it have to? Unless you’re performing for nitpicking magicians who overthink, most regular spectators would not even realize the difference and would be amazed by this visual restoration that has their signature on it.

Here are some close up pictures of the Rejoined gimmick I practiced with when watching the instructional video:

The secret moves aren’t difficult to pull off; the online tutorial is adequate although I do feel that production wise, improvements could be made with the camera work and video edit. The Copperfield-esque music track on repeat gets a bit distracting after awhile. Also, I think I would have preferred if they spoke in their mother tongue with English subtitles included instead, but that is just a personal preference.

When you finish your supply of 60 gimmicks, additional refills are available directly from João’s website at 25 Euros for 50 pieces. That translates to half a Euro for each gimmick, making it a good investment for the professional close-up worker.

Fun to perform, Rejoined will give you great reactions when done well. Practice makes perfect, and in the hands of an experienced card magician, this will slay. Recommended!
