Review: Sweetch by Gabriel Torres

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: John Teo”][vc_column_text]“Sweetch” is a card to impossible location effect.

In fact, it is a switching device for a folded piece of playing card.

In effect, a card is chosen and signed.  It is then lost back into the deck.  The deck can be held safely by the spectator.  The performer shows a packet of chewing gums.  When the flap is flipped open, inside is seen a folded playing card on top of the gums.  This card is dumped out and is unfolded to reveal that it is the actual signed selection!

You receive the special gimmicked gum packet and a password to an online video instructions.

The gum packet or box is specially gimmicked to make the switching imperceptible.  The audience see a folded card inside the packet of gums, and then they see it being dumped onto your own hand, or onto the table, or even onto a spectator’s hand, all done without any form of cover.  They now see the packet containing the gums, but without the card.  Alternatively, you can draw the folded card out of the box with your thumb, and the switch is done just as effectively.

The video teaches you how to perform the entire routine.  In the process, you get to learn a couple of ways to control the chosen card to the top of the deck, as well as how to do the mercury card fold.

If you wish, you can increase the effect that the packet is full of gums, by increasing the depth of the gimmick.  The video teaches you how to accomplish this.

The gimmicked packet can be used in a different way.  You show a packet containing gums inside.  You then insert a signed folded card inside the box and on top of the gums, close the flap, and let a spectator hold on to the closed box as safe keeping.  The box can be rattled and the audience can hear the folded card inside it making the noise.  Suddenly, the rattling noise stops, the box is opened and shown to be empty.  The signed folded card is then found somewhere else in an impossible location.  Instead of the folded card, a signed folded bill can also be used.

If this type of gums is not available in your country, you can purchase a similar packet of gums available in your country, and using the gadgets in this gimmick to easily construct your own gimmick for your packet of gums.  This fact is not mentioned in the video.

The operations of the gimmicked packet is clean and easy.  The reset can be done instantaneously.  It is a valuable asset for those who want to perform signed card to impossible location.
