Review: Telekinetic by Diamond Jim Tyler

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: Bernard Sim”][vc_column_text]Telekinetic is based on a very old effect “Acrobatic Matches”. The old effect looks good with the matchbox animation. In recent years, the use of matchsticks is not as popular as people started using the more convenient lighters. Matchsticks are not as easily available too, so the use of a playing card box seems to be the next logical choice.

The initial setup will take a while, once you know the proper setup that is suitable for you, the next time you setup for performance, it would be a breeze. The animation is really cool and perplexing to your audience as the card box, turns, spins, stand and even open by itself. Besides the card box animation, Tyler also teaches a routine whereby you can reveal a selected card using the card box animation ending with a rising card.

Also included is a routine using a matchbox, matchbook and even a cigarette box to animate. Another interesting routine is the rising name card, you can use this to hand out your business card and impress people at the same time. The last routine taught in the DVD is the Haunted Pack routine; this routine is essentially the haunted deck but using the same setup as Telekinetic.

Seasoned magicians will know the method but probably won’t know how to get the card box to animate the way Tyler does. The DVD includes the gimmick but you will need to provide your own card box. The box can be examined at the end of the routine but unfortunately, you can’t perform it with a full deck inside. Having said that, you can take out your deck from the box, do your regular card routines and then perform Telekinetic before keeping the deck back into the box.

The gimmick takes up very little pocket space and is a great addition to your card routines. For card workers, this would make your card routines a little more visual. Recommended!
