Review: The TIEPIT Book by Enrico Varella

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: Madame Curator”][vc_column_text]Singaporean magician Enrico Varella is a contemporary magic creator best known for his TIEPIT, a clever device inspired by… you guessed it… the topit! However his Tie Pit requires no jacket, which is absolutely necessary in the traditional method. Touted as being “the revolutionary Lateral Topit System”, it also includes impromptu pocketing techniques.

Originally crated in 1994, the updated ebook is now exclusively available through and with almost 70 pages of illustrations and instructions, the price of US$20 for the download is an absolute steal. Veteran magicians Lewis Jones and Bob Fitch provide the written foreword and introduction to Enrico’s work, and throughout pages in the ebook, many internationally renown magicians are also featured in photographs.

The ebook provides a wealth of information as a topit resource, and is very well researched with proper crediting at the end. As for the main body of work, Enrico clearly puts in tremendous effort in making sure no detail is left out in the construction (right down to the nitty gritty like the specific fabric used) and utilisation of the Tie Pit. With a magical flourish you can vanish a deck of cards!

Readers can easily tell that Enrico personally uses his creation and has spent years developing the Tie Pit over the years. This is not one of those shoddy magic products dropped by a rogue creator out to make a quick buck. It is obvious that the Tie Pit is Enrico’s passion project and after finishing the read, I felt inspired to make one of my own!

However, as with most things, it’s a wee bit of a hassle for us ladies as our shirt buttons are on the other side (if you’re a lefty then you’re in luck) and not many of us own ties. I personally haven’t worn one since I graduated from school! Still, Enrico does have an alternative for women which is briefly mentioned in his ebook – so props to him for so kindly sparing us a thought 😉

The TIEPIT Book by Enrico Varella

If you’re a worker, you’ll definitely appreciate the genius that is the Tie Pit and should you be male (which is like 99.9999% of magicians out there!) purchasing this investment is a no-brainer! I like this a lot and feel that this well-written ebook deserves a 9/10. It gets full marks if there were private video links showing the Tie Pit in action, but perhaps there will be updates and subsequent releases.

Highly recommended, especially for close-up entertainers!
