Review: The Amnesia deck aka the Suits Deck by Steve Gore

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: Madame Curator”][vc_column_text]If the house was burning down and I could only take a deck of cards with me… Steve Gore’s Amnesia Deck would most probably be it! At first glance it doesn’t look like one of the many available super fancy cardistry decks used by flourishers today. But don’t simply judge a book by its cover… this innocent looking deck has the power to make people believe you have incredible Rainman abilities!

Like a Savant gifted with a perfect memory, you will be able to effortlessly memorise a mixed deck of cards and inform your spectator on the position of his chosen card, e.g. Her freely chosen card, the Four of Spades, is in the 37th position. Or should they pick a number from 1-52, you’d be able to tell them precisely which card it is, i.e. Number 22? That’s definitely the Ace of Hearts. Openly count down to it and watch their eyes go wide when you show them.

Now, if you’re like me who has read all the books, watched the companion DVDs on the subject matter, personally marked an entire deck of cards as taught, recorded and sang everything to remember, even paying for apps to help learn the system… but are still not 100% confident performing Simon Aronson’s card stack or Juan Tamariz’s Mnemonica, the Amnesia Deck will make you seem like a master.

In other words: Thanks to the deck’s clever marking system, no memorisation of stacks are required for you to look like a demigod of magic. Performing the classic Any Card at Any Number routine will never be nerve wrecking for you ever again!

If you’re wondering about quality, the Amnesia Deck is printed on standard Bicycle card stock by USPCC. Do note that to pull off this killer principle, you must have standard colour vision. While Arson Stack & Mnemonica “cheat cards” and a card with basic workings are included, a secret link to video instructions for several effects (ACAAN, Weighing on my mind, Memorisation, Handsfree, Elimination) along with in-depth discussions with UK mentalist Peter Turner are also provided.

There’s many wonderful possibilities with the Amnesia Deck. Understanding the code takes you a few minutes and it’s an effort that will pay off tremendously. You can quite possibly start your own religion with this ;) Well worth the investment, this may quickly become one of your favourite working deck. Highly recommended. Two thumbs up!
