…I know I do! To celebrate the official launch of NingThing.com, I decided to gift my magic partner Murphy’s Magic with sixty specially made cupcakes – complete with a cuddly cute bunny in a top hat!
Tadah… Aren’t they just the cutest?!
There was a bit of drama prior to be honest. You’d think in this day and age, how difficult is it really, to do a google search and pick a decent bakery located in the same area (California, USA) before making payment via PayPal after you’ve communicated about the purchase order. Turns out, caterers can sometimes suddenly vanish without a trace… I had nothing to do with it I swear; I only use my magic for good.
Eventually, I did manage to get another vendor who was able to make these magical cupcakes I specifically requested and delivery them directly to Murphy’s Magic first thing on Wednesday morning. I was so relieved that everything went accordingly as planned, especially since I really wanted to thank the awesome folks at Murphy’s Magic… basically Planet Earth’s biggest magic distributor… for believing in my brand and acknowledging my dream team* (John Teo, Bernard Sim, Nique Tan, Harapan Ong, Satish Kumar, Dylan Tay and yours truly) as official magic reviewers.
Magic is still my favourite hobby and I’m super stoked to be able to continue serving the community, albeit in a different way now. I’m no longer juggling a crazy work/ travel schedule performing on stage and since this is strictly a not-for-profit site, so we aren’t selling anything. Truly, I’m in a happy place now where I’m just simply enjoying the latest gems that magic has to offer.
My straight-talking friend, magician/ consultant Paul R. Wilson, completely hit the nail on the head when (after I let him in about my retirement from the professional magic scene prior to the official announcement last year) he shared with me that “magic is good cake but bad bread”.
Having said that, magic is still amazing because it is the only art form that has the ability to gift the feeling of astonishment. It also goes beyond age, language, culture, religion (unless you’re in the Middle Ages then we’d probably get burnt at stake) and more.
So! If you’re a magician or hobbyist, do check out our Magic Reviews section if you haven’t already. We serve up fresh reviews weekly; every Wednesday morning (+8 GMT) and our reviewers are well-respected individuals known in the industry.
Truly, I’m immensely grateful that these wonderful folks have joined me in this passion project (*sincere apologies but we aren’t looking for any more reviewers- I actually received 14 requests via email about it after we launched on Wednesday) and this is just the beginning! There’s SO much more awesomeness to come 😉 Thanks for being a part of this amazing journey…
