Review: Darkslide by Chris Ramsay

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: John Teo”][vc_column_text]Darkslide is a visual reversal of a card in a fan.  It is similar to the popular Zapped Royal Flush trick except only one card is reversed when the cards are flipped.

Here is the basic effect.  A deck of cards is riffled and a spectator calls “Stop” at any time.  The identity of the stopped-at card is peeked at.  The cards are then fanned vertically and held in one hand.  The spectator notes the position of her chosen card.  The performer runs the nail side of his thumb of his other hand across the fan of cards.  Visually, one card reverses itself in the fan.  It is the chosen card!  It can be taken out and freely examined by the audience.

You receive a gimmicked card and a password to an online video instructions.  In the video, creator Chris Ramsay teaches 2 other presentations.  One routine involves a signed chosen card.  You can perform an ambitious card routine with the signed selection.  As a finale, the signed card reverses itself in the middle of a fan, and can be taken out for examination.

The second presentation is called “Future Photo”.  The effect is similar to Asi Wind’s “Double Exposure”, but the presentation is different.  A card is peeked at and you make a vertical fan.  This fan of cards is then transferred to the hand of the spectator.  The faces of the cards are facing the spectator.  You use yours or the spectator’s mobile phone to take a picture of the back of the vertical fan.  You run your thumb across the face of the fan and the selected card is magically reversed while still in the fan.  You show the photo taken in the cell phone – it depicts the back of the card fan with the selected card reversed!  This picture was taken before you ran your thumb across the face of the card fan.  The mobile camera has captured a photograph in the future!

According to Chris, the gimmicked card is constructed with durable material and will last for a long time.  If you like what you read as the effect, you will love this trick.
