Review: Equilibrium by Magic World

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: John Teo”][vc_column_text]Equilibrium is a locator card – not just an ordinary locator card, but a “deadly locator card” that hides in the deck in plain sight until you need it.

It is a gimmick card that is also the locator card that enables you to locate it in a couple of ways.  Daniel shows you 4 different methods of using it.

You receive 2 gimmicks, one for use with a red bicycle deck and one for a blue bicycle deck.  They are both very well made.  Each of them can be well hidden in the deck until you need it.  You also receive an instructional DVD by Daniel Meadows.  The DVD does not contain a live performance, but the trailer in the magic dealers do.  However, this does not, in any way, jeopardize your understanding of Daniel’s explanation in the DVD.

The name “Equilibrium” is not based on the nature of the gimmick, but on the effect using this gimmicked card.

A spectator cuts off a small packet of cards and keep this hidden from the performer.  She then cuts off a larger packet for the performer.  The performer makes a mental connection with the spectator and he starts to eliminate some cards from the packet given to him.  He finally arrives at a packet of cards that has the same number of cards as the spectator’s packet!

This is a card effect that has a mental flavor and is not the usual “you choose a card and I find it” type of trick.  Properly performed, this is quite mystifying to the audience.  Daniel explains how you can repeat the effect, but using a different method, of course – this makes the trick even more mystifying.

Because of the gimmick, the effect is easy to do, no calculations are needed and it can be reset immediately.  The effect can also be performed with the performer blindfolded so that he cannot see any of the cards at all.  It can also be performed hands off where another spectator handles the packet that is meant for the performer.  The fourth method is a variation of the first method where the performer’s packet is handled face upwards.

Because it is a locator card, it is a utility device for a deck of cards.  You can perform any card trick that uses a locator card.  Check out The Encyclopedia Of Card Tricks.

This locator card is well made and is quite invisible to the non-initiated.  Put “Equilibrium” in your deck, and you can perform miracles when the time comes for you to use it.
