Review: Larry’s Bag by Mago Larry

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: John Teo”][vc_column_text]Larry’s Bag is a net see-through forcing bag.  It can be seen to be empty at the start, and the different items examined before they are put into the bag by a spectator herself.  In this manner, it is different from the economical net or transparent see-through forcing bags, which require the items to be inside the bag right from the start.

Guy Bavli’s Inter-Net and Creative Magic’s Pandora Bags are two see-through forcing bags that also allow it to be shown empty at the start.  But I believe they are now out of production.

Larry’s Bag looks good in the black netting.  It measures 10 inches by 10 inches, and comes with a zipper at the top of the bag.

A spectator can examined the different items before they are put inside the bag.  The top is zipped closed and the bag is shaken to mix the items inside.  The spectator herself unzips the bag, reaches inside and takes out the (forced) items.  This makes the handling of the bag very clean and above-board.

There is one small drawback.  The bag cannot be used in this manner with larger items such as a playing card.  In this case, the bag is used in the usual manner as with other see-through bags.  This means you have to start with the bag filled up with the items.

You receive the really nice looking net bag and a password to download the instructional video from the internet.  The video was produced in the Spanish language.  For English speaking users, there is a voice-over in the English language.

Two routines are taught in the video.  One involves selecting a torn corner of a card that matches the card in the prediction.  The second routine has a spectator tear up a newspaper and pick one of the torn pieces.  The performer is then able to divine the main word in that selected piece.  Other uses are mentioned in the video, such as using the bag for a book or magazine test, picking a particular row number and seat in a theatre, and in a one ahead effect.

There is one important point that is not mentioned in the video.  It is the way in which the spectator picks up the forced item in the bag.  The bag should be held high, the spectator should look away from the bag, puts her hand inside and comes up with the selected item.

Larry’s Bag is a clean-looking see-through forcing bag.
