Review: Naked by Salvador Sufrate and Bazar de Magia

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: Madame Curator”][vc_column_text]I’ve yet to travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina (the land of Argentine tango!) but I’m certainly looking forward to meeting the impressive magicians there, having heard so many good things about their passionate brotherhood and how members truly wish to elevate the level of magic.

Salvador Sufrate is one such creative magician and the clever Argentinean magic creator has come up with this crazy genius idea of a visual card change, which can be performed hands free and naked. Hence the name of his card effect.

Naked is completely in your face impressive -the card change, not your nakedness- and all you need is the provided gimmick (you receive two, one red and one blue, in standard bicycle backs) along with your own deck of cards.

The ad runs true where your spectator does have a free choice and even signs on the card  thatthey freely select. There’s no need for fancy sleight of hand (okay, some sleight of mouth is needed) so it is within the reach of a card newbie who is looking for an interesting magic trick that will impress. It may just be a magician’s fooler too!

The tutorial in the DVD (video available in both English and Spanish) is short and sweet, adequately covering everything you need to know to start performing Naked. What I personally appreciate about it, is that the effect is super clean and resets instantly… and it will certainly get you reactions!

Naked does not use standard utilities like threads or reels or magnets, which educated audiences typically look out for – that is why, the magic moment is “hands free”. I don’t quite think there’s anything quite like these card gimmicks, which cared for properly, should last you for a long time.

Though you do need to mind your angles, Naked is a novel trick and I personally love the quick change in your mouth, done via misdirection of a card fan, which is also demonstrated and taught in the DVD.

For some reason, that is not in the trailer (a small pity because I think is a brilliant variation) and during execution, the angles are rather tight but that particular move has the potential to help you nail a wicked promo video. YouTube magicians, this might be your thing 😉

Essentially, Naked is a very cute card effect that comes recommended… Although I personally wouldn’t advise you to actually perform this naked!

Two thumbs up!
