Review: The Solution by Michael Murray

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Reviewer: John Teo”][vc_column_text]The 3-D combination colour puzzle that was known as Rubik Cube, which was invented by the Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Emo Rubik way back in 19774, has come a long way from being a puzzle to a magic trick, and now, to be involved in mentalism effects.

The fact that there are 43 quintillion configurations of the cube infers that the odds of randomly solving a mixed-up cube is astronomical.  If a magician can solve a cube within seconds, this then becomes an impossibility, and therefore a very good magic effect.

So far, the magic has always been about quickly the performer can solve the cube.  Michael Murray has always wanted to devise a method where the spectator, not the magician, solves a mixed-up cube within seconds.  “The Solution” is the result.

In effect, the performer displays a mixed-up cube.  He asks a spectator how long she thinks she will take to solve this cube.  Whatever answer she gives, it will be quite a great length of time.

The performer quotes the late Napoleon Hill as saying that “whatever our minds can conceive and believe, we can achieve.”  When we think we cannot do it, then we will not be able to accomplish it.  On the other hand, when we think we can, we will be able to do it.

The performer has the spectator take the cube and place it behind her back and rotate the cube sight unseen.  She keeps rotating the cube until she feels sure in her mind that she can solve the cube.  At this stage, she stops rotating the cube and brings it from behind her back – she and the entire audience are surprised to find that the cube is now solved!  The power of positive thought!

You receive a booklet of nicely printed instructions.  You have to supply your own Rubik Cube.  You need to learn a special technique and it is given in the instructions.

This is a brilliant method conceived by Michael.  It pays to study and follow closely the script provided by Michael in the instructions.  You need audience management too.  But nothing really difficult.
